New Pictures

Not many updates in the world of Nicholas. Thursday Grandma Polzin came over to babysit him all day because our sitter now is out of town. Grandma P had a good time. Today Grandma Bowman is going to watch him.
Last night just as we were falling into much needed sleep we hear a faint sound of music. It sounded like the ice cream man was in the other room. When the music quickly changed we realized that he was kicking the keyboard that is in his crib. I forgot to turn it off the other day when we were playing with it. We watching him on the video monitor for about 5 minutes because it was so funny seeing his reaction every time he kicked it. Nicholas didn't have a clue what caused that sound and so he'd have a blank look on his face while looking from side to side to see who was in the room causing that sound.
He still doesn't like to eat during the day or sleep at night. (New July photo album link to the right)

Top Golf

Monday night we headed out with the Bowman's to a place called Top Golf were we showed our little ones how to golf. Ok so they slept most of the time, but it was more of an introduction to golf for them.
Nicholas is rolling over like its his job lately. He doesn't sleep much at night because he's rolling over and wanting to be fed constantly. Mr Grazer still isn't eating very much from the bottle or when being nursed. But he does have an awesome smile.

He's learning so fast!!

What a busy weekend!
Saturday Nicholas and Daddy headed out to Huntley to visit grandparents. Mommy was going to go downtown and meet up with friends but that got canceled. So we told her to take a day off and relax. That meant it was up for Dad for all feedings, we packed a lot of milk for the 24 hour period. All went well and we even took him to their Church in the morning. Later I headed out to Lindsey's cousin Tommy's college graduation party were Nicholas met up with Mommy and most of the that side of the family there.
We are not getting enough sleep and are becoming sleep deprived. He still gets up four times and night and not always goes back to sleep right away. We'll have to figure something out. He is also eating on the low end in terms of how much he's suppose to eat a day.
Overall he's lots of smiles, found him rolled over again this morning. Apparently he wanted to do some extra tummy time. Also he found his feet over the weekend. -Pictures from the weekend

Mild Case

So the doctor told us that he didn't have enough of a case of acid reflux to prescribe medication, thankfully. He seems to be eating on the low end but simply doesn't want more. As for the pain he endures, she told us that we'd just have to get through it until he grows out of it which could take up to a year.
Nicholas is trying more and more to roll over again. The funny thing he's doing now while he is on his back, is spinning around. It's pretty funny.

Last night we had friends Shannon and Bob come up from Springfield, they love The Cheesecake Factory. So we all headed there for a full long meal. Nicholas was an awesome baby! No crying or fussiness. Pix to come.

Acid Reflux?

Needing supplies for dinner, the family gathered and headed out to our local Caputos fresh market. With everything going on, I thought for sure Nicholas would be spinning his head looking around. Right after this photo, less than 3 minutes after we walked in, he was lights out.

Nicholas has a Doctors appointment Friday because of his eating issue. He hates to eat and doesn't eat very much. We have a feeling it's acid reflux, that can be fixed with medication but wanted to avoid medication if we can. Lindsey describes it as-

We introduced the bottle at about 2 weeks and he took it fine. As of about 4-6 weeks ago he started screeming while eating. It's worse with a bottle but he still screams while nursing. He arches his back and gets stiff as a board which sounds like Acid Reflux. He spits up occassionaly but not a ton and he doesn't seem to have a problem laying down flat after eating which is why I question whether or not it's reflux. When he takes the bottle he only eats about 2.5 oz at a time he also only nurses for about 5 minutes. Some times he eats every 1.5 hrs sometimes up to 3 hrs but still doesn't nurse longer or take more expressed milk.

We will know more Friday.

The weekend

Friday we had my childhood friend Eric Rutledge and his family, Lori and Ethan over for the night. Todd and Max also came over, accompanied by another friend, 4 year old Brody. More pictures are in the July Album.

Saturday
we headed to Mokena IL for Lindsey's Aunt Barb's surprise birthday party. Daddy forgot the camera, so I don't have any photos other than the one I took with my cell phone. We had a private room in a huge bar (don't worry it was during the day). It was the first time most of that side of the family had met Nicholas. I feel terrible for not having the camera.

Sunday we were at the Bowmans for Lisa's birthday. Again no photos, but no overall complaints as a smiley Nicholas sat on evertyones laps.

On saturday Nicholas began rolling to his side more often, he also began touching his feet. Monday morning he woke up crying, he rolled over to his stomach from his back and it scare the wits out of him. But we were excited!

Bath Time = Sleep Time

Last night we gave the little guy a bath again (twice a week). This time we took photos of he newest towel. So cute!

Later we wrapped him in his blanket, but something was different. He fell asleep on the floor after being wrapped. This hasn't happened before and well, we weren't going to wake him. He slept like this for about an hour. You'll notice he didn't even try to get any arms out before falling asleep, that bath must have worn him out.

Tummy Time Surfing!

This video was taken last week (8 weeks). He doesn't find it too much fun yet, but Dad sure did. I know in the future he will love when I do it.

Day Care

Nicholas started day care this week. Basically, he is going across the courtyard to our neighbors who has a sister that is watching their baby, and now ours. Jack is 5 weeks older than our two month old Nick. So far so good.

Relaxing weekend

We had a nice relaxing weekend. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Bowman Saturday for watching Nicholas so his Mom and Dad could go to a movie. Sunday morning rolled around and I was the only one that could make it to church, mommy and baby were zonked out.

A couple weeks ago Nicholas had the chance to meet our friends Bob & Becky Ozelie, here is one of those lost photos, now found. (The rest are in the album)

No video please...that's his request.

To answer your emails and phone calls, what you got in the mail, yes, I designed and I took the photos myself.

Hungry man has moved to the next size up nipples. Thank goodness it was taking him forever to eat 2.5 ounces, 40 minutes wears us out! As of yesterday though, he started to eat more and more often, at one point he wanted to eat every hour. 4 ounces now take about 30 minutes for our grazer to down. Everyday is a new adventure with him it seems. :)

This is funny, I can be playing music with him on my lap, singing songs moving his arms with the beat and getting in return, huge smiles. Smiles after giant smiles...that is until I turn on the video camera. That's when Nicholas stops smiling and stares into the camera stunned. This has happened a few days in a row now. Each time I put down the video camera he begins to smile again and be all cheery. He apparently doesn't want his smiles to be recorded.

This just in!

Today is his two month doctors appointment along with his two month old birthday. He's now, 12 lbs, 4 1/2 ounces. 23 1/4" long. This surprises us since he's not a fan of eating or sleeping. The sleep over the weekend was a fluke.

For those of you just joining us, below are the most recent posts. On the right we have links all the way back to the first days after being born (under May). Also on the right are links to all the pictures we have since the untrasounds to the baby showers.

In other news, we have had to put up the bumpers in his crib. Since he's loves to scoot on his back up to the edge of the crib, it was time.

His first Fourth of July

Thursday- Our long time college friend, Drew, came into town and got the chance to meet Nicholas. We had tickets to a Cubs game for him. Another college friend LeAnn also came over to meet Nicholas. Grandma and Grandpa Polzin came over and watched him until we got home at midnight! THANK YOU!!!!

Friday- We went to the Taste of Lombard, Nicholas first festival. Later, we hung out with friends.
Saturday- we headed to Bolingbrook golf course for family, food, drinks and a card game the Bowman's are addicted to called "Hand and Foot." Nicholas received his first mosquito bite. It got him on his back.

Sunday- Took Drew back to the Airport at 5:55am. Then I joined my family in a all sleep til 10:30. We made it to Woodfield and then to the couch that day.
It's amazing every day how much Nicholas is learning and picking up. His fussiness has gone down a lot, sure he still has meltdowns but no where as bad as it once was. He is also sleeping a lot more during the day and still wants to be fed every 2 hours.

The Kicker

As of late, we think out of frustration, Nicholas kicks off his tightly wrapped blanket, then kicks away his sleep positioner(prevents him from rolling over). He then digs his heels in and pushes himself to the edge of the crib, out of camera view. During the day it was fun to watch him skoot across on his back, but not in the middle of the night when he should be sleeping.

He is 7 weeks old today and his big eyes are learning so much everyday. He got to see a firetruck up close yesterday, but he didn't care. Instead he wanted to look at the blowing trees. :)
