A FIRST for many exciting things...

*First* It was his first thanksgiving Thursday, where he got to meet many of his cousins he had never seen before.

*First* Nick is getting his first tooth! The razor sharp tooth is making its way out, if you are facing him, its the front, bottom right tooth.

*First* Nick pulled himself up to the tv and started to dance to the Christmas song "Merry Christmas Polka" by no-one else but, his favorite, the Andrew Sisters. (We were listening to XM)

Stairs too....yikes

Monday, Nick surprised us both while in the basement, he went over to the stairs and was about to climb them until I distracted him. The very next day, he went over to those stairs and had only one thing in mind, climb them. He got to the second stair, turned and smiled at me. I pulled him away and played another game, not making a scene. :) Gulp

Tv-He is an addict, we try not to have the tv on around him because he is mesmerized by it, you can try to hide in front of it and he'll look around you. You can try to turn his head away from it and you'll stop because you don't want to pull his head off because he's quietly fighting you back. So no tv for now.

Out of nowhere Nick loves to eat anything we give him from the spoon. He is drinking less milk because of it. So far he's had, green beans, butternut squash and avocado. Today he gets to try sweet potatoes.

Cousin Kellie was in town Tuesday to hang out with
Nick, Todd, Max, Lindsey and myself.

Happy, safe, Thanksgiving everyone!

Wow, those cries sure changed...

Over the past week, maybe more, we've noticed his cries went from sweet, to heart wrenching cries that brought tears to his eyes. And sure its painful enough for us to hear them to...

Saturday we went to Scotty Shula's 1st birthday. Nick has never seen so many toys in his life. He warmed up to one of the gift bags first before diving into the toys. Ok maybe not diving, more like a subtle crawl, slowing reaching out....to the stuffing in another bag. But I assure you, he eventually played with some toys.

Its hard to get a photo of two heavily distracted babies.

Slobbered...

Nicholas' newest thing is to, we think, give you a kiss. He comes over and pretty much slobbers you. It's either a kiss or he wants to lick your face.

He loves doors stoppers. Nick goes over to them and pulls them, then lets go, hearing the sound that makes him giggle.

He can sit on the top of my shoulders these days and hold on. I just have to hold his legs so he doesn't fall back.

We received a new toy, a "jumperoo" he doesn't like it one bit.

Mr. Mom

Since Monday it's been me and Nick for nearly all of the day at home (Read Friday if you haven't). I am trying to get him on a sleep schedule to make everyone's life a bit easier :)
Here are his photos from his 6 month photo shoot on Friday. Good thing we are not taking them now. He fell on his face yesterday and now has a fat lip. It's still red today.
As a bonus, here is a video of 7 minutes in the life of Nicholas.

End of an era...

Today my company closed it's doors, the issues that were at hand finally came to fruition. So if anyone knows anyone that is looking for a full time graphic designer or knows of some freelance work or would like to see some samples of my work, please let me know. tim.polzin@yahoo.com
Nicholas was sleeping at the time of the meeting, but awoke to say goodbye to all the employees and put a temporary smiles on their faces. I was a new college grad to the company and had a 9 1/2 year run.

Day two of Nick eating butternut squash and Aunt Jen must have the touch because he ate it all with no problems. Also he is currently teething, must be! He is very crabby at times, I ran out to get some baby orajel, that may have helped.

He's not a fan of new foods...

My apologies for not staying more consistent at this as of late. There are other more pressing issues at hand.
We had his 6 month appointment were we learned his head circumference is 42-1/2 cm, his height is 26-1/2" and he weighs 16 lbs 2.5 oz. I have included two videos of Nick today. One where he pulls him self up and I jump out and scare him. He loves when I do that. He has perfected pulling himself up. The other day he spent a whole hour pulling himself up to the couch, falling down, pulling himself back up. He has no interest in toys right now, just to perfect that motion it seems.

The next video is of him trying out green beans. Again, they didn't go over so well. So 3 days later, last night, we gave him butternut squash, though he didn't dislike them as much as green beans, he didn't care for it much.

Here is Nick at work with Daddy. He spends a lot of time here these days.

Pulling up like a champ

Over the weekend Nick perfected pulling himself up to objects like the couch and ottoman. He began doing so over a week ago, but now it seems that's all he wants to do. He has no interest in toys right now, it's only seeing stuff from a taller angle. It's funny to see him climb up and then want whatever object is below him..only to fall to his butt grabbing it.
As you can see in the photo, he loves wires!
New things include: He likes to climb over things instead of around them. He still makes clicking sounds with his tongue. He enjoys banging on the keyboard of the computer, just like mom and dad ;) We started him out on a new food last night...Green Beans. He did not like them after the 3rd bite, so Mom mixed it into rice cereal, he ate a little more after that, then realized what she did and rejected it all. In a few days we'll try butternut squash.

Taking over the office!

Yesterday and today I brought Nicholas into the office with me :)
He was really good yesterday, ate, slept and played very well. It was fun to spend time with too. Who knows, we may do this more often.

The explorer

Nick loves to crawl around now to check out new stuff around the house. New to him that is. He also has began pulling himself up standing beside the couch. He usually does that until he pulls on the blanket that is up there, then falls on his bum. It's very exciting!
Currently he's fighting a small cold.
ALSO, we lowered his crib to the lowest it could go...now that he pull himself up, we don't want him climbing out.

Here is Nick and Max his cousin. (Todd and Amanda's son)

Not today

Sorry, there will be no blog update today. More pressing issues at hand.
