He Did What?

If you thought I was going to say bite again, you are wrong (thank goodness!). Instead, after Dad explained "how it all works" earlier in the morning... Nicholas went into daycare and when he had to go, he grabbed himself and pointed to the potty. The teacher helped him onto the potty, where Nick proceeded to pee.
Tuesday it was a proud day for us, sure he hasn't repeated it, but its a great start at his age!

Here's a blurry photo of Nick, but he smiled on command and that's rare.

Being A Kid

We kiss not bite.

Nick got to see both sets of Grandparents all in one day. He enjoyed that, and I think they did too. Look for pictures with Bowman cousins in Aunt Jennies blog during her next update.

Back in daycare: Day 1, round 2. Monday went well, we can only hope we taught him enough during the 3 weeks and that he'll remember what we said.

No Means No

The other day I was tickling Nick and he walked away after he was done laughing pointing to me and saying "no Daddy".
The other day Mommy was tickling Nick after laughing he went on to do something else. When he was in range of Mommy again, he said "no" and pointed at her. Just a game he's playing right back to us.
Nicholas' stew anyone?

Nick will be 1 and a half on Saturday- His official 18 month stats are-
23 lbs 2.5 oz • 32 1/2 length

He will begin daycare again on Monday. According to daycare, his best friend there Cole, has been missing Nick, along with his favorite teacher Amy. Lindsey learned this in her near hour meeting with them last week. A funny story, Lindsey was out getting the mail yesterday with Nick when a guy walked by with his dog and son. "Is that Nicholas?" said the man, "uh, yes" replied Lindsey. "This is Cole" said the man who we now know as Andy. It turns out they live down the street from us. Since there was a dog nearby, Nick didn't even look at Cole.

Commercial Airplane Doors

Commercials- Nick cannot stand them! In the very little tv we let him watch he will point and whimper when his content of the show changes to a commercial.

Airplane- For over a month now, Nick is amazed at Airplanes flying high in the sky. He extends his little arms out as if he could reach them, or wants us to pull one down so he can play with it. He has similar amazement with birds.

Doors- He loves to close every door that is left open in the house. He's just days away from opening them too.

And I cannot forget his fascination with drums, he now developed a drum sign. He mimics them playing the drums which is in fact sign language for drums.

Monday, Nick got to spend the day with his cousin Jake Stevenson.

Coloring & Puzzles

He's getting much better with coloring on the paper and not in his mouth. Here, Mommy is showing him how it's done. He can even say color, it comes out koker.

He's also advancing in his puzzle skills, his favorites are ones with animals.

He hasn't bit all week (crosses fingers), he will still fake you out like he's going to...but then just blow on you. Its actually quite funny that it has developed into this.

Halloween

2nd Annual Halloween Babypalooza was held at the Peterhansen's again.
Bill was excited to pass around shots of SoCo to us parents while our kids ran around, wearing us out.
From left to right- 1 Polzin, 1 Eldridge, 3 Bakers, 1 Matyja, 2 Peterhansens.

Right before we left to take Nick to a few homes, Dad gave him a bite of a Almond Joy, his first candy bar taste. Of course he wanted more but we headed out. It was amazing how fast Nicholas grasped the concept of getting candy from neighbors. After a few homes he came home to count his loot as seen in the last photo. He went back out TWO more times with Mom because he was having so much fun ringing bells and having them give him something. A day later he still walks around with his plastic pumpkin with the candy in it. He enjoys dumping it out, and reloading it.

As for the biting, it became really bad this weekend, odd because we were cracking down like never before, but perhaps it was because we were bringing it to his attention. 3 days later, he is now pretending to bite...we are not allowing that either. We figure he's just pushing the envelope to see what he can get away with.

Playing Around

Nick loves this diaper box and has been playing with it for 2 weeks.

Mommy bought Nick a coloring book with markers that don't color anything but the book. He loves to scribble, but mostly loves to put the caps on his fingers.

We have friends of friends and family including ourselves watching Nicholas for the next 2 weeks. We are still reading up on no biting.

PS. WOW over 10,000 views!!!!
