5 Weeks and Sick

Nick has been sick with various things even before Kevin was born. Now finally getting rid of those he sadly passed one of the colds with a bad cough onto his little bro. If we thought we thought we were sleep deprived before... Babies can only breathe out of their nose at this time so when that is stuffed up it makes for a scary event for baby and parent when their eyes get wide open gasping for air because their nose is so stuffed.

Mommy and Daddy have been doing a great job of keeping him upright and cleaning out his nose. It got to the point that the doctor gave Kevin some antibiotics. With one night down, he seems to be doing better.

At Kevin's one month appointment Monday, he weighed in at 9lbs 2 oz. (Just about what Nick was born at, 9lb 4 oz.

Nick is great with his brother, here Nick is playing with Kevin's toys.

One month old photo of Kevin.

"It's my favorite" A common saying to anything that Nick likes. Pretty funny.

Kevin's Photoshoot

Not too long after Kevin was born, we went had a photoshoot done. Here are some of those photos:

Here are more even more - http://db.tt/7q8ZQmoM

Kevin rolled over from his stomach to his back this week. We are looking forward to when he can roll from his back to his stomach so that we can then put him on his stomach to sleep. He seems to like that sleep position best, and Doctors frown upon that position.
Climbing up on Daddy, singing loud Justin Bieber's song "Baby".
He has excellent balance, I didn't even help him up. He enjoys climbing on me often. But don't worry Moms, I'm prepared to catch any fall.

Smore Snow

Don't adjust your computer, that is not Nick and Kevin, but Nick and his cousin Max.
They came over to play in the snow. Nick still hates snow even though Max showed him how fun it was. We'll keep working on it.

Tummy time
Lifelong friend Bryan and his new baby Julia.
Bryan and I were born 1 day apart, his second baby Evie and Nick are exactly 3 months apart. Jula and Kevin are 2 days apart. Kinda funny.

Another installment of Nick's lego creation.

Nick's new nickname - "Dash" he always wants to run and when outside wants you to run with him.
Kevin's nickname - Squeaky and Grunt, no explanation needed.

Our Two Boys

We learned a little more about Kevin this week, he still loves to sleep, just not in a bassinet, crib or pack in play. Only in your arms or in the swing. So we have to work on that.
Kevin had his 2 week checkup where he weighed in at 7 lbs. 9 oz. and grew too 20" long.
His first real bath. Not a fan.

Nicholas and Kevin's first car ride together.

Nicholas is getting bigger too, he can now reach most of the light switches. He can also open the refrigerator to get out his milk. The other day Nick came home singing part of a chorus of a Justin Bieber song "Baby", we are not sure where he had learned that outside of school. But we are proud that he fills in the chorus on some Doo Wop songs that Dad sings on occasion "ooo waaa ooo waa".

Some words are starting to take shape,
Nuck is slowing converting to Milk.
O-me is now O-meal
Nick cannot yet pronounce the letter V. So,
never ever is instead, neber eber.
And Kevin, is Kebin.

Nick and Daddy went to Aden's 3rd birthday part.

First measurable snow out, Nick and I dove in. Ok just Dad dove in, Nick is still scared of the snow and won't make a snow angel.

Another Tower by Nick

Our Second Round Begins

Thank you all for the congratulations last week!
Now a week old we have learned a little about Kevin, he loves to sleep!

They meet for the first time.

The ride home, Dad has misplaced most of the components that help comfort the baby from the time Nick was this age.

Nicholas loves his little brother and wants to always kiss and hold him. There are some small jealousy issues but everyone is working on those.
The other day Nick had a fever and insisted on sleeping with us. Never has he asked that even when he was sick in the past.

Please welcome...

Kevin Edward Polzin
Born on January 4th, 2012 at 12:08pm.
6 lbs. 14 oz.
19 1/2" long

38 weeks along, Tuesday evening Lindsey started having contractions, by 10pm she was admitted into the hospital. After a long night of waiting for advancements things slowly started to progress in the late morning hours. Thankfully the Doctor was in by then because as Kevin moved closer to the pushing stage, his heart beat fell dangerously low for the little guy. So the Doctor pushed Kevin back up and told the nurses to prepare for an emergency C section. They ask if I wanted to join Lindsey with some hesitation I said yes. They asked me to wait in the 1st room and wheeled her into the surgery room. The nurses asked me to get dressed in proper clothes for the surgery room. I sat on the couch in the room for what felt like hours wondering why haven't them come and got me. What had been only 15 minutes they came in got me, I went and sat by Lindsey's head. She too, thought I decided I chose not to come in.

A few minutes later out came Kevin. He passed all of his tests and was given to me to hold.. It turns out that Kevin was trying to come out sideways and the cord was wrapped around his neck. Other than being "tongue tied" he is perfect.
After a roller coaster of emotions for the Polzin's, it was awesome to have such a wonderful outcome.

Four Christmases

Christmas Eve morning began at the Bowman's where Nicholas tore into presents while waiting patiently for his turn.
Christmas Eve night at the Burnette's

Christmas Morning -Santa brought Nick "Buzz Light Year".

Christmas day night at the Polzin's.

It was great to spend so much time time with everyone.
Nick has a lot of favorite toys right now, a few stand out. His new toy power drill, Buzz, his new trains and his easel.

One new thing that stands out that we taught Nick is to fast forward on the DVR. If he was a good boy that day he gets to watch a little tv before bedtime. So showed him how to fast forward through the commercials. It's pretty cool.
