Off to the Snowy Smoky Mountains we went, on our first week long family vacation ever.
The road conditions were icy and that made for an extra long white knuckle drive down, totaling over 12 hours. Mommy gave you paper lunch bags every hour with a new gift inside (did the same for the return trip). And on occasion you boys would watch a movie, such as when we were parked on the middle of the highway due to conditions.
On the first night and last night you boys were super excited to sleep together. The during the week you each had your own room.
One of our views.
We hiked in the mountains unit we reached this pretty waterfall. Getting there was all up hill and Nick did an excellent job. All in all we hiked 2.6 mile that day.
The down side was that Tennessee was cold. So one day at 30 degrees out, Nick and I went swimming in the heated pool. We had a great time. We tried to go again days later after it snowed but they closed it. The family also went into the indoor water park where we also had a good time except Kevin who gets cold easily so you were in the "hot" tub with Mommy.
Nick got to play some big boy games at the arcade.
One day we checked out the aquarium. This is one of Daddy's favorite photos.
The battle of the teeth.
We checked out the shops, had ice cream, moonshine, local craft beers, then in snowed 6" and the city shut down. The next day we left on the worse road trip Mommy and Daddy have ever experienced. Into Indiana we ran into a snow storm that dropped another 6" of snow. Cars were spun out everywhere, so much that we lost count. We just missed a major accident by good driving skills but most of all by the grace of God!
We were excited to be home and will always have our memories of this fun family trip.
