Nick's First Camping trip & Horse Races

Saturday for Uncle Todd Polzin's birthday we all met up at Arlington Race track. He oooooo'd at the site of all the horses.

Sunday Nick and Dad drove up to Lake Geneva to meet up with the Zach & Cory Matyja with 1-1/2 year old Aden and join them in camping. Nick loved it, being outside all the time, his favorite. I taught him what a tree was the week prior so when we were there, he was pointing to all the trees. Mr Zach took Nick far off the shore into the lake. Nick wasn't sure if he should laugh or be scared, but he was excited to see all the dogs playing in the lake. While there he ate his share of dirt and sleeping was a bit rough because of the sounds. But as a Dad, it was so cool to wake up at 5:20am(that's not the cool part)...to wake up with Nick laying on his back in his pack in play looking at you and grunting in a laughing matter like his does because he's excited you are sleeping next to him. We got out of there right before the severe thunder storm Monday. Thanks Matyja's for a fun camp outing.

Gaaa: That is a word Nick uses for everything he sees.

6 Teeth and Counting

I don't think I had the chance to take a photo showing all of his 6 teeth. So I snapped one for you. You will note that he has green beans on his tray. He will not eat them at home but gobbles them up at day care every other day.

We have a big weekend planned so stay tuned for pictures next week.

If you haven't had the chance to look at all the photos over the past year and prior, the next couple weeks will be your last chance. The space available is filling up and needs to be cleared for new photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/TLPolzin

Laughing & Kissing

We can easily get him to sit there on the chair for his photos these days. Just don't take longer than 10 seconds. All we have to do is sign the "shoes" song Daddy made up. Here Mommy is making funny sounds and faces behind me taking the photo making him laugh.

Also if you are lucky enough to get a kiss from the open mouth of Nick, it might be your last, we are teaching him to keep his lips together when he wants to plant one on you.

Slowly Nick is copying what we do or a sound we make. Nothing crazy but how do you think I am getting him to close his lips... also his hello/goodbye/night night wave is converting from a whole arm rodeo wave to a subtle hand motion.

He spent Saturday with Grandma & Grandpa Polzin. I should a photo Friday of their fun activity.

Bubbbbbles

Early riser, Nick wakes at 5:30 every morning. Mom and Dad like to sleep in til 6:30.
On Sunday Nicholas tried peanut butter, liked it, and lived to try it again, thankfully.
Currently he's enjoying all his new toys he received for his birthday.

1st Birthday Party

Nick celebrated his 1st birthday with family and friends this past Saturday. He's just like his Mommy and Daddy when it comes to parties, he likes to entertain. Nick didn't spend a lot of time with us, instead he was going around to everyone, playing with them or asking them to hold him. It was very cute!

When it came time for cake, we blew out his candle and awaited for him to dig in. Instead he was very careful and took little pinches of cake. Literally, he would pinch the frosting and put it in his mouth. I offered him bigger chunks that he ate, but went back to pinches. A little while later, I shoved his whole hand in the cake to show him, it was ok to dig in.

Cousin Declan, also enjoyed feeding Nick

Thanks to the Bowman's for hosting!

Breakfast in Bed

To keep the tradition my parents started, going, we gave Nick breakfast in bed on his Birthday.
We think he enjoyed it.
It was the first time he tasted syrup.
