No's Crib

That's right, Kevin has caught the case of the no's and its an answer you get a lot.

Sorry for those wanting a lots of information or updates but when Daddy, the blogger is gone 13 hours a day for the new job there isn't much time with the boys. In fact, during the week I see them awake only 4 times for 40 minutes. Otherwise I come home and kiss their face while the boys sleep at night.

Last weekend we celebrated a friends birthday. Willa turn 7 and Evie turned 4.
At the party they had a pinata for the kids. Here is Kevin's attempt at breaking it open.

One of the birthday girls, Evie, playing on the tire swing with the boys.

This weekend while Mommy and the her side of the family when golfing, cousin Andrea came over and watched her cousins. (Daddy was out at the Midwest Brew Fest)

The final photos of Kevin in a baby crib. He refuses to stay in it.

Swinging down. Not pictured yet, Daddy converted his crib to a toddler bed.

A Little Boy With A Big Heart

 Kevin (19 Months) & Nick

Everyone knows Kevin is very small for his age, weighing unofficially at 20.5lbs at 19 months old. But perhaps they don't know how big of a heart he has. If anyone is crying he will come over and give you a hug and a kiss no matter your age. Another example is when Nick gets in trouble and is put in the corner for his Penalty Box (Timeout) Kevin will come over and sit with him, cheering Nick up.

Kevin obviously isn't perfect, he also shows Nick he loves him by pushing his buttons. He is very good at driving Nick crazy. Whether it's repeating "Alright" a hundred times, or he goes and takes the very toy Nick is playing with when he looks away. He also gets very upset when you take away something that is in his mouth but shouldn't be and is now staining his entire mouth.

Kevin loves to climb up and over things. On 8-10-13, Kevin climbed out of his crib.
Every time that he hasn't seen Mommy for a while, such as overnight or coming home from work, when she picks him up, he asks for milk. He's not looking for milk from her but the memory is clearly there.

Kevin knows so many words these days, "hat" is just another one. He still loves to say "outside" and bring over Daddy's shoes.

Nick likes to pick out his clothes for the next day. This match up is odd only because they rarely go together this well.

Lucky for us he really gets into his food.

Mr Climber used a stool that he brought over for an extra boost.

Daddy's last full day with the boys for the next 4 weeks. I took a contract job in the city.

Our 2013 Galena Trip

Cousins

Nick got Grandpa Bowman to play Mario Cart with him.

Declan showing off his big muscles holding Kevin.

Check it out- Nick now can not only jump in the water but has learned to hold his breath!
Sadly the weather didn't cooperate so the outside pool was too cold. Once again we just let the boys swim in the cooled down hot tub.

When the time comes for nightly prayers, Kevin request that we pray for Daddy first.
Mommy - "God bless
Kevin - "Daddy"

Kevin has mastered the word, "Why". I can't imagine where he got that from..
He also has learned "Watey" or Water.

Early Last Week Mini Vacation

Early last week, Dad took the boys back up to Lake Delevan again.

He insisted, even yelled, "I'm not tired". 15 minutes later Nick was asleep on the couch.

Some fun with Daddy.
Nick was influenced by his cousins last week so this week he finally took the leap and jumped into the pool. Over and over again, a big step forward!

Kevin hanging with Grandpa Polzin. He loved steering the boat and the golf cart.

Exploring new food: Nick, eating his first...hopefully his last, Twinkie.

Back at home, back at the park.

Nicholas doesn't like to sleep in his bed. We found him in his closet, on a table leaf.

Whenever there is a construction worker at the house, Kevin watches their every move, taking mental notes perhaps.

What? Polzin Family Vacation

It was that time again, time for us to go on a Polzin vacation. Mission:
1. Have fun.
2. Get a family photo.

We did not get a family photo. So I compiled this:

I assure you they had fun. This is post fun time and called, worn out.

Ah, now for the story of the trip. During our tubing escapade Uncle Todd became bored of the slow moving tube and so he hopped on the rear and bounced up and down. It was fun for the kids however was creating even more drag. We still don't know why Grandpa was going slow. So Dad convinced Uncle Todd to hop into the front of the tube to offset the weight, we moved Nick into the middle lane, we all agreed that it was a brilliant idea.
Once in front, the nose dove down, and projected us to be moving at a 45 degree angle. With no quick fix, Dad bailed over the side hoping to offset the angle. Instead, Uncle Todd wasn't able to turn back and the tube stood at 90 degrees dragging just Max before coming back level.  With Dad and Uncle Todd in the water, I quickly panic, 'WHERE IS NICK?" All that Uncle Todd was able to respond was "under tube". Nick was ejected and the tube ran him over. Dad walked on water to the rear of the tube to find Nick with his life vest popping out of the water freaking out.
Everyone was accounted for and safe, just shaken up.

Back at home Dad reunited with some old coworkers from when he was a Diet Aide at the AH hospital. We haven't seen each other in 15 years.
Not pictured is No Nap Nick.

Kevin's new word:
What
You can call him and that is what he responds with now.
His favorite words are- Shoes, Ow-side, Hello & Hi

Peanut Butter and Video Games

At 18 months,
Kevin's head circumference is 45 1/2" = 4 percentile.
His height is 30 1/2" = 7 percentile.
He weighs 19lbs 12 oz = below the chart scale.

Kevin hanging out with his cousin Addison Burnette.

A serious family game of bocce ball during cousin Katie's High School graduation party.

Dad has recently taught Nicholas how to play video games. We started with N64 Mario Cart which came out in 1996 but is a great start for learning. He is getting much better with staying on the race track and not running into walls or going backwards. It is fun to watch him physically twist as he's turning his car in the game.
Nick still loves to ride his small no pedal bike, and also his big boy bike. However his big boy bike out weighs him, and it is a little too tall for it. So he can only ride it when an adult is present.

No peanut allergies here as he likes to smear it all over his face.

Half Birthday = 4th of July

People have been telling me for a while now that we should celebrate Kevin's half birthday in the summer since he's birthday is on January 4th. Once they think about it, they smile and say "oh". Kevin will love the fireworks the city puts on for him every year on his half bday.

It's tradition! Since Nick has been born we drive up to Aunt Lisa's and Uncle Leigh's house for breakfast before the Arlington Heights parade. Aunt Lisa had quite a spread this year!!!

Perhaps my camera was tired too. 40 minutes into the 10am parade, the kids were crashing.

Normally what would happen is that we would go home for them to nap. We did just that, but neither zombie child napped.

Still up, playing dressup with cousin Cormac and awaiting the fireworks.
I thought a day with the no naps kids was doomed, but they surprised the heck out of Dad and Mom. Even baby Kevin was fine!

 HA!
Nick gets his V's and B's mixed up.
"Daddy, that's not berry nice."

This is too much fruit for a little boy.

Kevin said "Amen" at the end of prayers last week.
