Baby Champ wins again

Some of you may have already seen this photo, but for the others- It is a picture of Nicholas (Aka Baby Champ) late Friday morning.
We already had a call into the doctor at that point, they said he didn't have normal swelling and that it was not a concern yet. As you can see, his ear is distended and eye almost swollen shut. His right side of his face was all swollen. The swelling did get worse by Friday night so with the doctor recommendation we put Nick in his car seat for the night. He woke up every 3 hours for more medicine and the comfort of Mommy.

By Saturday the swelling was going down being replaced with black and blue skin, then turning yellow as it heals. Nick's sleep schedule is all out of whack now. For the past two days he has been awake for 1hr 15, and then sleeps for 1h 30min, continuously.

Surgery went well

It was as if Nicholas knew something was going to happen. He wasn't allowed to eat after 2:30 am, Mommy set her alarm at 2:00, Nick woke at 1:50. We set the alarm to get up at 5:50, Nick woke at 5:40 with a smile. We went to the Children's Hospital and he got to play with their toys before the doctor arrived. By this time he was very hungry since it was now 7am when we got our room. The nurses and doctor all explained everything to us one more time before carrying him away.

About 45 minutes later the procedure was complete, and we were able to leave about 2 hours later.

Yesterday and last night are kind of difficult, we can't lay him down on his back to change his clothes or diaper because the pain is too intense for him. So one of us has to hold him up the whole time. He woke up last night every three hours, just in time for his new dose of minor pain meds. The doctor estimated this will take about 6 weeks filling them up every week with them or on our own. Thanks for everyone's prayers and support!

Big week for little Nick, I'll explain

Today he turned 8 months old.

Outtakes
On Thursday January 14th, Nick will be having surgery done on the mole that is on the back of his head. They originally thought it was just a birthmark but we had it further examined we learned it was a mole and if we did nothing, there would be a 15% chance of him getting Melanoma. The doctors told us it would be best to do it now rather than wait. Mommy and Daddy made the difficult decision to go ahead with it, the hardest part for us is that they will have to put him under twice, to do the procedure.

How its done- His mole is 2" x 2", they will cut down the middle of it and insert two "spacers" that will go on either side. They are same dimension as a flat bar of soap, for now. They will have two tubes that are attached to the spacers that also will be under his skin. Those tubes will allow us to fill up the spacers with a needle, each week with saline. Every week they will grow, along with his skin. 6-12 weeks later when they feel they have enough skin, Nick will go undergo the second surgery to have it all removed.

Prayers are welcomed.

A friend turned 1

Nick's friend Emily turned 1, so we attended the party.
Blowing out the candles.

Nick playing with other party goers, Aden.

After two months of looking for a job, I (Tim) chose one of the offers I received and will start in a few weeks.

More pictures

I can't leave out this cute photo from Christmas.
Or this picture of Willa Broznowski who came over to visit last week.

And of course, the Bowman/Walker Annual party.
Good times at each event.

Backfire...I use to tilt my head sideways for fun with my Nephew Declan when he was young. It was so cute, he loved it and would do it back as he got older. So it was only natural for me to do the same with Nick...he finds it funny too, which is awesome, and likes to tilt his head back to me now..but only when eating. It's kinda hard to feed him when his head is sideways. I'll have to fix that.
Have a good weekend.

The side of Nick only video can show you.

Lately when we walk by certain picture frames he wants to reach out and give them high fives, its pretty cute.
The other day I was sitting at my desk and heard a sucking sound, turned around and saw green on Nicks face with a marker in his mouth. Thankfully they were washable and non-toxic.
I found the remote control that had been missing for 5 weeks, last seen with Nick, it doesn't work anymore. I think some drool may have dripped in there.
Today he climbed up two fights of stairs, with Daddy behind him, he was off to bed.

I have uploaded 2 videos for your enjoyment. He loves his "cubes" and is all smiles. In the second video he shows off his skill of standing for a brief moment. Note odd sounds and laughs I make are ones he makes to us.

Friday: Pictures from the previous week.

He's cruising!

So much has happened since last Wednesday that it's hard to choose a spot to start. I'll spread it throughout the week. First, New Years eve morning, Nick 7 1/2 months, stood up to the laundry basket and began to walk it, by pushing it around our home. Of course it was his first time, so I wanted to document it and grabbed the camera. The next day we went and bought him a baby walker that was more his height.

Guess who woke up 3 minutes before we rang in the new year? That's right, so I grabbed him to celebrate...we are all very tired here.
Posting later this week, he can stand on his own for a few seconds, hi-fives to frames on the wall, and photos of gatherings.
